Why Now?

We are all complex and multi-faceted beings with different needs and concerns at different points in life's journey. My role is to listen and create a safe environment in which you can explore your feelings and thoughts freely. Exploring these, often involving childhood/personal history, within a supportive and structured way with someone who is trained to do it safely, can help in deciding whether certain core beliefs, once held about you and the world, are no longer appropriate and can thus be replaced with alternative, healthier options.

"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." ~ Carl Jung

Experience

  • I have worked with clients in a number of areas such as depression, anxiety, cultural issues, trauma, refugee-related work, autism, anger management, relationships, self-development, loneliness, loss and bereavement.

I have experience working with people who feel different, which can feel lonely and isolating at times. Here are some examples of difference:

    • Abuse – physical, emotional and psychological including child abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglect.
    • Being different – A feeling of disconnection; feeling different to those around you; being the 'weird' one; not feeling connected to family; loneliness; intrusive thoughts; awkward in social situations etc
    • Cultural and ethnicity – In growing up & fitting in; mixed race relationships; religion; living in different countries; having mixed race heritage etc
    • Family – A culture of secrecy in the family; conflicts with honour, reputation & tradition; affairs; expectations & responsibilities etc

What is the difference between a counsellor and psychotherapist

A counsellor is not trained to understand the impact that the past has on on our emotions and impact it maybe having presently on us. A psychotherapist focus is on the person's thought processes, and how these may be influenced by past events such that they cause problems in the present. This allows the client to gain insight into chronic physical and emotional difficulties. Thus allowing them to understand further their patterns of behaviour.

As psychotherapist i offer counselling that allows you to get to the root cause of what is affecting you. I am more then a counsellor and offer a space to explore the unconscious. Psychotherapy is a skill that has been to taught to psychotherapist which i have developed by completing my Master in Counselling and continue to develop with experience and further studying
