Why Now?

We all encounter difficulties in life, where some may feel more challenging than others to cope with alone. I offer a place to where we can explore such struggles that may cause us to feel sad, anxious and overwhelmed. These diffculties could be due to Relationships, Bereavement, Family Issues, Mental Health, Depression, Anxiety. Counselling can bring awareness and change to all difficulties that may arise in ones life through exploring these difficulties within counselling.

Credentials

 

  • I am fully trained psychotherapist and Registered with the BACP.
  • I have completed my Masters in Counselling and have worked with Mind (Mental Health Charity). I have many years of experience dealing with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and mental health disorders.

    I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
  • I am also trained to use CBT and Mindfulness training.

     

Experience

I have experience working with difficulties that could be due to Relationships, Bereavement, Family Issues, Mental Health, Depression, Anxiety. Counselling can bring awareness and change to all difficulties that may arise in ones life through exploring these difficulties within counselling.

I further specialise in:

  • Addiction: It is important to understand how the addiction began and it may have been used as a coping mechanism. Drug, Alcohol,
    Gambling and other forms of addiction can have an impact on us emotionally and impact our friends and family. Coping with addiction and support is important for everyone experiencing addiction.
  • Anxiety: There are many different types of anxiety but they all cause physical symptoms which impact us and can affect are daily life. Make things that are supposed to be easy difficult.
  • Depression: Can be more than just feeling low it can be the low mood that lasts for a long time. Depression can impact our daily life and seem less worthwhile.
  • Mental health disorders: Affect 1 in 3 every year, I have a full understanding of mental health disorders long term and short term and the impact they can have on our lives. This can be schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), borderline personality disorder, suicidal thoughts. I also have experience working within mental health services.
  • Trauma: I have experience working with trauma and childhood trauma. I understand the complexity and the impact trauma can have on your life even after the event has passed.
  • Panic Attacks: Can feel like the scariest thing, the importance is to understand the triggers and what these panic attacks are related to.

What is the difference between a counsellor and psychotherapist

A counsellor is not trained to understand the impact that the past has on on our emotions and impact it maybe having presently on us. A psychotherapist focus is on the person's thought processes, and how these may be influenced by past events such that they cause problems in the present. This allows the client to gain insight into chronic physical and emotional difficulties. Thus allowing them to understand further their patterns of behaviour.

As psychotherapist i offer counselling that allows you to get to the root cause of what is affecting you. I am more then a counsellor and offer a space to explore the unconscious. Psychotherapy is a skill that has been to taught to psychotherapist which i have developed by completing my Master in Counselling and continue to develop with experience and further studying
